Overhead power was cut for safety, leading to the cancellation of several trains departing from Dr MGR Chennai Central, including the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express to Mysuru.
A good train in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur went up in huge flames of fire, with thick black smoke billowing from the blaze. The fire has affected railway operations on the route, and efforts are on to contain the flames.
Confirming the incident on social media, Southern Railway said the fire has affected operations on the route. “Due to a fire incident near Tiruvallur, overhead power has been switched off as a safety measure. This has led to changes in train operations. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates before travel," it said in the statement.
