The IPL 2025 is expected to resume soon after being suspended midway due to India-Pakistan tensions, with new dates for the restart and final likely.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is likely to resume on May 16 or 17, with the final expected to take place on either May 30 or June 1, according to sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). An official announcement is expected soon. The IPL 2025 season was notably halted midway due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension was announced by the BCCI just hours after Match No. 58 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was interrupted midway in Dharamsala.
While official updates from the BCCI are still pending, sources informed ABP News that the tournament could be resumed by May 16 (Friday) or May 17 (Saturday). The tournament final, which was originally scheduled for May 25, is now likely to be played on either May 30 (Friday) or June 1 (Sunday).
Notably, although both India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire, Pakistan’s army violated the pact within hours by targeting multiple locations along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) — including Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir — as well as regions in Punjab and Rajasthan.

A total of 57 matches were completed in IPL 2025 before the 58th fixture between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala on May 8 was abandoned after just 10.1 overs. The IPL governing council is yet to determine whether the match will be replayed.
Twelve league-stage games remain, along with the four playoff matches. Originally, Hyderabad was slated to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while Kolkata was scheduled to host Qualifier 2 and the Final.
An earlier report by ESPNcricinfo stated that the BCCI has shortlisted Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium as potential venues to host the remaining 16 matches if IPL 2025 resumes later this month.
