Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar tendered his resignation on Monday, citing the need to prioritise his health and follow medical guidance. In a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar stated, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the constitution.”
In his note, Dhankhar expressed his heartfelt appreciation to President Murmu for her “unwavering support” and the “soothing wonderful working relationship” during his tenure. He also conveyed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers, noting that the Prime Minister’s “cooperation and support have been invaluable.”
