Security in Delhi has been intensified after the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', striking terror bases in Pakistan and PoK in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Security measures in the national capital have been significantly intensified following the launch of 'Operation Sindoor' by the Indian Armed Forces in the early hours of Wednesday. Additional police personnel and paramilitary forces have been deployed at key locations as a precautionary measure, officials said.

A senior police officer confirmed that Delhi remains on high alert, with multiple agencies scheduled to conduct mock drills on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to ensure preparedness.

"We have deployed more security personnel at key locations. Delhi Police is fully alert and no one will be allowed to breach law and order. Teams are keeping strict vigil on vital locations and monitoring social media platforms," the officer stated.

The heightened security comes in the wake of India’s retaliatory strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK), including Jaish-e-Mohammad's stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke. The strikes were carried out in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.

"A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'OPERATION SINDOOR', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted," a central government statement confirmed.

The government emphasized that the strikes were "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature" and did not target any Pakistani military facilities.

"Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution," the statement added.

The statement further stressed that the strikes were a direct response to the Pahalgam attack, reaffirming India’s commitment to hold those responsible accountable.

"These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable," it said.
