IndiGo alerted travellers to delays and potential cancellations, advising them to confirm flight details before heading to the airport.
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, major Indian airlines, including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India, issued travel advisories on Thursday, urging passengers to check their flight statuses amid widespread disruptions caused by operational issues.
IndiGo alerted travellers to delays and potential cancellations, advising them to confirm flight details before heading to the airport. The airline cited "unforeseen operational reasons” for the disruptions and recommended using its website or customer care for real-time updates.
Akasa Air said that due to enhanced security measures at all airports across India, passengers are requested to reach the airport at least three hours prior to departure, to ensure a seamless check-in and boarding experience.
"Please ensure you carry valid government-approved photo identification documents for entry to the airport. In addition to your check-in baggage, only 1 handbag weighing upto 7 kgs will be permitted. As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks prior to boarding. To save time, we encourage you to check-in online on akasaair.com or our mobile app. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming you aboard the Akasa experience," it said in a post on X.
Air India also confirmed delays on several domestic routes due to operational constraints. The carrier said it is making efforts to minimise the impact and has apologised for the inconvenience.
Passengers across all three carriers were advised to allow extra time for airport formalities and to explore alternative travel plans where possible.
"Given the current challenges, we strongly recommend checking your flight status before departing for the airport,” IndiGo said in its advisory.
Spicejet said, "In light of enhanced security measures across all airports, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure to ensure a smooth check-in and boarding process."
